Ruby is a former elementary school administrator and community servant who has lived in Memphis for over a decade. Ruby was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Growing up in a rural community gave Ruby a strong work ethic and a commitment to her community.
Ruby is running to be the your State Representative for District 97 because our community deserves a weighted funding model to fund schools, affordable healthcare for families, and increased investments in small businesses in Bartlett, Cordova and Memphis.
Ruby has served in a variety of leadership roles the past 11 years in education reform working with Memphis City Schools, Denver Public Schools, The Achievement School District, The New Teacher Project, and as a member of Education Pioneers’ Emerging Human Capital Leaders Initiative (EHCLI).
Ruby has worked with students, teachers, families and community members. It was Ruby’s time as an elementary school administrator that shaped her desire to work in electoral politics fighting for educational equity.
Ruby also serves the Memphis community through the Junior League of Memphis, Board Chair on the Board of Directors at Leadership Preparatory Charter School, and Census 2020 Complete Count subcommittee member.
Ruby is a proud alumna of The University of Florida where she served tirelessly as a student leader and was recognized as the Outstanding Undergraduate Woman of Achievement by the Division of Student Affairs.
Ruby went on to complete her Master of Arts in Organizational Communication at Southeastern Louisiana University and her Master’s in Business Administration at The University of Memphis with a focus on school and school district operations and finance.
Ruby was the 2018 Outstanding Young Alumna for the Fogleman College of Business and 2018 Memphis Business Journal 40 under 40 awardee.
Ruby is married and has two beautiful children. Ruby is also a member of the Church of Christ - White Station.
